The striker kept up his great recent form to put United ahead at Villa Park inside 17 minutes, and after Douglas Luiz equalised, Scott McTominay headed in a late winner.
It was a massive result for the Red Devils, who are now just six points behind Tottenham and five behind Villa in the race for the top-four.
Hojlund took several months to score in the league after moving to Old Trafford last summer in a deal worth £72million.
The floodgates have opened now though, with the Dane now scoring in five consecutive league games, against Villa, Tottenham, Wolves, West Ham and Villa again.
He is now one of only two players aged 21 or younger to achieve such a feat, the other being former Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City forward Nicolas Anelka.
‘He’s on fire, it took him a few months. It’s more settled and he’s got confidence,’ Roy Keane said of Hojlund on Sky Sports after the Villa win.
‘I believe every time he’s on the pitch, he thinks, “I’m going to score a goal for Man United”. He’s showing good form.
‘The manager has been forced to play him week in and week out – it’s been a big help.’
Fellow pundit Paul Merson added: ‘He’s a young kid, 21 playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world. If there was one thing you could bottle up in football, it’s confidence.
‘If that ball comes in at the start of the season, he would’ve hit it as hard as he could. I think he will be a superstar.’
