We would like to invite an experienced Cardiology Clinical Director to function at our ground breaking healthcare facility in Nigeria, West Africa!

African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) commenced the construction of its African Medical Centre of Excellence (AMCE) project in Abuja, Nigeria. It will provide excellent healthcare to both low and high-income patient groups across the continent. The AMCE in Partnership with King’s College Hospital London will be located in Abuja, which is a hub for travel in Nigeria and West Africa, enabling it to attract patients across the region. The Centre will be starting with a 170-bed specialist hospital before expanding to a 500-bed facility.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for an experienced Clinical leader in Cardiology that is able to provide the Cardiology department with clinical leadership, ensuring the delivery of a high standard of care for Cardiology patients.

  • Able to demonstrate previous exceptional leadership within a senior Clinical Cardiology position.
  • Previous experience in providing a strategic plan for a Cardiology department taking into account budgets and resource constraints
  • Previous experience in setting a long term strategic plan which has been successfully implemented
  • Experienced in Clinical Audit and Clinical Governance with demonstrable understanding of how this improves the quality of care provided to patients

Duties and Responsibilities

  • To take responsibility for the review of clinical procedures, with a focus on continuous improvement of services.
  • To provide a strategic plan for the Cardiology department that takes into account and financial and/or resource constraints.
  • To lead in the clinical and non-clinical objective setting process for the Cardiology department.
  • Identify clinical indicators to measure and evaluate the level of quality care
  • Participate in clinical audit, incident reporting and analysis, ensuring deduced actions are implemented.
  • To ensure that all practice within the department complies with the statutory regulations that are in place.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Full and specialist registration (and a licence to practise) with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) or the country of origin.
  • MSc Degree in related field of equivalent experience.
  • Previous experience in demonstrating full and independent responsibility for clinical leadership of a Cardiology department.
  • Experienced in Clinical Audit and Clinical Governance with demonstrable understanding of how this improves the quality of care provided to patients.
