Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni has approved the sum of N708, 158, 208.77 for payment of retirement benefits to 461 retirees across the state.
This was disclosed in a statement signed on Saturday by Buni’s spokesman, Mamman Mohammed.
According to the statement, the approval was granted following the successful screening of the third batch of pensioners in the 17 local government councils of the state.
“The payment would be made directly to the retirees while the next of kin of those deceased would be paid on behalf of the deceased persons.
“The payment would no doubt support the livelihood of the retirees, especially for a life in retirement”, the statement added.
Recall that, Newspot had reported that similar approval was granted in November last year with an upward review of the monthly standing payment of gratuities from N100 million to N200 million aimed at covering more beneficiaries every month.
