We would like to invite an experienced Clinical Director of Oncology to function at our groundbreaking healthcare facility in Nigeria, West Africa!
African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) commenced the construction of its African Medical Centre of Excellence (AMCE) project in Abuja, Nigeria. It will provide excellent healthcare to both low and high-income patient groups across the continent. The AMCE in Partnership with King’s College Hospital London will be located in Abuja, which is a hub for travel in Nigeria and West Africa, enabling it to attract patients across the region. The Centre will be starting with a 170-bed specialist hospital before expanding to a 500-bed facility.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for an experienced Clinical Oncologist to provide the department with strong clinical leadership, whilst also being responsible for the day to day operations within the department.
- Must be a strong leader that is able to demonstrate previous exceptional leadership within a Clinical Oncology senior position.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders making sure that they are clear and concise with the information they are providing
- Act as a as a ‘problem solver’, providing solutions to any potential complications that may have arisen in the department concerning both staff and patients, making sure that these are resolved in an efficient manner
Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure that services are delivered in a safe, effective and caring manner providing clinical and operational leadership.
- To take responsibility for the review of clinical procedures, with a focus on continuous improvement of services.
- Plan, lead and implement service improvements and changes in the department.
- To carry out regular appraisals with clinical staff to ensure that there is a long term plan in identifying and achieving objectives.
- To regularly monitor and review clinical practices within the department, in order to deliver quality and service improvements to ensure a safe and effective patient service is delivered
- Ensure that processes for a systematic review of outcomes and compliance standards are in place within the department in accordance with the AMCE’s policy and best practice
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree or equivalent in relevant experience in medicine or related field.
- Registration as a Specialist in Oncology with Medical Dental Council of Nigeria or Equivalent agency in country of origin.
- Previous experience of delivering an exceptional level of clinical expertise.
- Previous experience in managing all aspects of an Oncology department.
