The draw for the Champions League last-16 stage takes place next Monday, December 18, at midday.
Arsenal and City are the only British clubs remaining in the competition after Manchester United, Newcastle United and Celtic finished bottom of their groups.
Having won their groups, Arsenal and City will be in the pot containing the seeded teams, who will be drawn against the unseeded sides who finished runners-up in the group stage.
Arsenal could face Paris Saint-Germain, Porto, FC Copenhagen, Napoli, RB Leipzig, Lazio or last season’s finalists Inter.
City, meanwhile, could be paired with Inter, Paris Saint-Germain, Porto, FC Copenhagen, Napoli, Real Sociedad, Lazio or PSV Eindhoven.
