Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has expressed profound sadness over the demise of the elder statesman and iconic administrator, Alhaji Jibril Halilu Dukku, who died on Friday in Gombe at the age of 91.
The governor described the deceased as a seasoned administrator and educationist renowned for his scholarly contributions, administrative acumen, and humanitarian endeavours.
This was made known in a statement by Ismaila Uba Misilli, Director-General of Press Affairs, at the Government House in Gombe.
He noted that the late elder statesman made indelible impacts across Gombe State and beyond during his glorious service and in retirement, adding that his legacy will live on through his multiple accomplishments and the lives he positively influenced.
According to him: “The demise of Alhaji Jibril Dukku leaves a profound void in our hearts, marking the end of an era characterised by exceptional service, wisdom, devotion, and commitment to the advancement of the people, community, and nation at large.”
Gov Yahaya said Gombe State has indeed lost a distinguished and highly respected elder statesman who served the state and nation with distinction and left behind a legacy of honour and dignity.
“On behalf of the government and the people of Gombe State, I extend my heartfelt condolences to my dear sister and daughter of the deceased, Rt. Hon. Aishatu Jibril Dukku and the entire family members on the passing of this iconic personality,” stated the governor.
The late Alhaji Jibril Halilu Dukku served with distinction in various capacities within the former Bauchi State, where he served as Permanent Secretary-designate at the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Permanent Secretary in the Bauchi Ministry of Education, Commissioner for Health, and Commissioner for Works and Transport, before his voluntary retirement in 1985.
He is survived by two wives and several children; notably among them are Hon. Aishatu Jibril Dukku, a former member of the House of Representatives and Professor Sani Jibril Dukku, an academic at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi.
Governor Inuwa had earlier sent a delegation, led by Deputy Governor Manassah Daniel Jatau, to the funeral prayer, which took place at the Emir’s Palace in Gombe.
