Compensation: Pay ranges BTW N500,000.00 – N700,000.00 monthly + other benefits.

About Company: Our client is a reputable financial institution that develops and provide holistic financial solutions to its customers across Nigeria.

The company is seeking to hire an experienced Head of Business Development who will be the main driver for the development, management and overall sales and business activities in the organization to be delivered through the retail network and digital platforms to achieve the company’s growth strategy by generating more revenue for the company.

The Head of Business Development will play a leadership role in developing business solutions and implementation of a long-range of strategic plans and objectives through the identification of strategic issues and opportunities that could influence business growth and profitability.

The ideal candidate for this role must have vast experience in competitor bench-marking, marketing program effective, industry intelligence, consumer knowledge, and development of strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop business opportunities and monitor business’s activities in line with the company’s long-term strategic and annual business plans and ensure that the company remains competitive and promptly reacts to changing market conditions and customer needs.
  • Work closely with senior executives to lead most critical strategic initiatives, including business unit strategies, geographic expansion efforts, and new business launches.
  • Develop a focused business growth plan in line with the strategy which boosts the company’s ability to increase the flow of business and generate deposits, lending and revenues from existing and new customers while ensuring high customer retention.
  • Act as a key driver for not only customer satisfaction but building a base of promoters by enhancing positive customer experience and advocacy to drive competitive advantage, leading to faster organic growth and lower cost.
  • Develop and motivate the sales team in alignment with strategic goal across the group.
  • Work with a team to develop proposals that speak to the client’s needs, concerns and objectives.
  • Design a system that will enable continuous tracking of the Business department performance, Customer and product profitability, and customer satisfaction.
  • Defines potential businesses in order to realize profitability opportunities and also to avail insightful qualitative analyses.
  • Create the right partnerships and also leverage on opportunities.
  • Prospect for potential new clients and turn this into increased business.
  • Present to and consult with mid and senior level management on business trends with a view to developing new services, products and distribution channels.
  • Using knowledge of the market and competitors, identify and develop the company’s unique selling propositions and differentiation.
  • Forecast sales targets and ensure they are met by the team.
  • Be at the forefront in market intelligence and research for customer needs and preferences, planning, and implementing new target market initiatives.
  • Proactive business risk assessment and minimization of exposures to operational risks in branch service delivery
  • Provide leadership in performance management, employee development, talent management and building a work environment that drives high performance and employee satisfaction through coaching, mentorship, and training business development staff.
  • Embed strategic marketing by focusing on how to develop competitive advantage in the changing marketplace and leveraging on the banks’ distinctive capabilities to drive value.
  • Build the company’s brand to ensure that the bank is top of the market through researching prospective business in target markets.
  • Enhance customer relationships by creating, communicating, delivering, and offering solutions that have value for customers, shareholders, and partners.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a business-related field. MBA will be an added advantage.
  • 8+ years of experience in strategy, business development or sales, preferably in the financial services industry, 3 years of which should be in a senior management role.
  • Proven analytical skills and problem-solving ability paired with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong presentation, communication skills, organization skills, time management skills, drive and self-motivation skills.
  • Experience with customer management, marketing, and relationship management teams.
  • Proven ability to generate new business.
  • Self-motivated and proactive team player who takes ownership of projects
  • Strong organizational skills with an ability to effectively manage competing priorities.
  • Ability to communicate complex issues to a wide array of internal stakeholders.
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced environment, consistently adhering to deadlines and evolving priorities.
  • Proficiency in computer use, including MS Office tools and banking systems.
