The Social Democratic Party (SDP) gubernatorial candidate in the just concluded off-season election in Kogi State, Muritala Ajaka, has said it is futile to go to court over the disappointing result of the election as declared by INEC in the state.

Ajaka expressed disappointment and scepticism regarding the transparency of the electoral process while speaking on Channels Television, insisting that pursuing legal action against the alleged rigging would be a futile endeavour.

“What am I going to court to do when the same INEC that did this rigging is going to come as a witness to defend what they did? So it is a waste of time. To do what? Except for the party people because I’m hugely disappointed. If the INEC chairman allows this to stand, they are looking for trouble in Nigeria.”

The SDP candidate expressed his frustration and pointed out the investment of time, resources and energy he and his supporters dedicated to the election, only to be met with what he perceives as an unjust outcome.

He criticized the INEC chairman, warning that if such irregularities are allowed to persist, it could lead to widespread unrest in Nigeria.

“You gave me assurance that the election would be transparent, you allowed me to waste my time, spend my money, and mobilize my people, only for you to write the results. Even if I’m not sad about it, you expect my supporters to be happy.

“I assure you if they allow this to stand as they are allowed in all the states now, they are calling for anarchy in this country,” Ajaka said.
