The decision was announced at a press conference on Sunday.

The union, it would be recalled, recently crippled learning activities in secondary schools in the state following the murder of one of its members, Bassey Sardauna.

Dr Ishaku Kazon, Secretary General of the union, urged members to resume academic activities in their various schools tomorrow, Monday.

“After several hours of meeting with the agencies of the state government, the union has unanimously agreed to reopen the secondary schools across the state.

“Over the weekend, we have had fruitful deliberations with the agencies of government. The House committee on education, and the Ministry of education. They gave us a round off of the activities of the government and how proactive the government is, and the steps taken so far,” he said.

Apart from a condolence letter extended to the union by the state government through the Ministry of Education, the government has also decided to set up a committee to investigate and bring those behind the teacher’s killing to justice.
