Tyson Fury has been accused of cheating in his win against Francis Ngannou after he appeared to catch the MMA fighter with an elbow.

Fury, the WBC heavyweight champion, narrowly avoided one of the biggest upsets in boxing history as he scraped a split-decision victory over Ngannou in Saudi Arabia on Saturday evening.

The Gypsy King was knocked down in the third round but convinced two of the three judges at ringside that he had done enough to keep his unbeaten record intact.

Ngannou has already admitted that he knew he would lose the fight if it went the full 10 rounds and has called for the judges to be ‘sanctioned’ over their decision to award the win to Fury.

But the 37-year-old is still keen to highlight what he perceives to be foul play from Fury as he posted footage of the elbow and described it as ‘illegal’.

In his response to Ngannou’s post, Hall of Fame promoter Lou DiBella replied: ‘Flush, timed, power elbow to the forehead. Dirty AF. Francis doesn’t flinch. Man has a chin.’

Ngannou is not alone in his criticism of Fury as Deontay Wilder’s trainer, Malik Scott, has also accused the Gypsy King of fighting ‘dirty’.

Speaking to ESNews, Scott said: ‘Elie Seckbach, my good friend, has been saying for many, many years what Tyson Fury put on display the other night.

‘Elie has been saying for many years that Tyson Fury is dirty – now the world is seeing him throw elbows intentionally at Francis Ngannou, all of that [leaning and pushing].’

Chris Eubank Jr also believes Fury’s elbow was intentional and feels it was a sign of ‘desperation’ against Ngannou.

Asked if he believed Fury had deliberately elbowed Ngannou, Eubank Jr told Seconds Out: ‘Oh for sure.

‘It wasn’t even masked. At least with the elbow that I got hit with [by Liam Smith] it kind of came in between a combination. His [Fury’s eblow] was just a straight… bang. Incredible.

‘I was expecting something like that from Ngannou, not from Tyson. But that just shows how desperate he was.

‘He knew he was in deep water.’
