An Oyo State High Court in Ogbomoso, on Wednesday, reserved judgment till October 25 in a lawsuit challenging the selection of Oba Afolabi Ghandi Olaoye as the Soun of Ogbomosho.
The PUNCH reports that the suit, marked HOG/27/2022, was filed by Prince Kabir Olaoye, who alleged irregularities in the process that led to Ghandi’s emergence as Soun of Ogbomosho.
The plaintiff is seeking a court order to nullify Ghandi’s emergence and order a fresh process.
Ghandi was installed as the new Soun of Ogbomosho on September 8, 2023 months after the throne had become vacant following the death of Oba Jimoh Oyewumi on December 12, 2021. Oba Oyewunmi, who died aged 95, ruled for 48 years.
Justice A.K. Adedokun fixed October 25 for judgment in the suit against Oba Ghandi, following the final address by the legal teams.
