The Peoples Democratic Party has blamed President Bola Tinubu for the harrowing experience Nigerians are currently facing.

The opposition party also asserted that the 63rd Independence Day address by the President was empty and bereft of ideas.

The PDP said this in a statement on Sunday by its National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba.

“Our party invites Nigerians to note that President Tinubu’s speech has left no one in doubt that the APC administration has no plans, capacity and competence to handle the crucial and urgent task of governance; which is clearly beyond its managerial faculty,” the PDP spokesman said.

The PDP lamented that “The manifest unpreparedness and hasty implementation of ill-planned policies by the current APC administration triggered a catastrophic economic failure with unprecedented crippling effect on the productive sector and agonising hardship on Nigerians.”

It said there was nothing to rejoice about the welfare package announced by Tinubu.

“President Tinubu announced a miserable N25,000 per month for six months for average low-grade workers, while still being aspirational on his promise of Compressed Natural Gas buses.”

But reacting,  the Director of Publicity of the APC, Bala Ibrahim, said the PDP should be blamed for Nigeria’s economic woes.

“No one should take what the PDP said seriously. This is because we are where we are today as a result of the PDP mismanagement when they were in power. Therefore, anything that comes with the intent of bailing the people out of the situation will be mocked by the PDP because of their failure, cluelessness and inability to do the needful.

“If you listen to the remorseful broadcast of the President, you will know that he meant well for the country. This is something that has not been done before. For someone to take a special interest in a certain grade that is below the cadre and initiate something that will cushion the effect of hardship is encouraging.

“Anything that is mentioned for the poor will not be of interest to the PDP. The PDP is yet to recover from the shock of their defeat. And they will continue to talk in that language until such a time when it dawns on them that Nigeria has rejected them and move on,” he said.
