Gov Alia stated this in Makurdi on the occasion of the 2023 World Tourism Day celebration on Wednesday.

He said Benue is working on expanding its tourism potential from its current position to an enviable standard to become a destination point.

He showcased the government initiatives on promoting tourism in the state in addition to the many distinct natural locations/sites where investors would never regret committing their money.

According to Alia, prominent tourist sites to invest in include Enemabia Warm Spring; Traditional Iron Smelting furnaces; Dajo Pottery, Makurdi Zoological Garden and River Benue Beach, all in Makurdi; Ai-Okpe Pilgrimage Centre and Agasha Confluence of Rivers Taraba/Katsina-Ala in Guma LGA.

Others are Ikwe Holiday Resort/Wildlife in Gwer East LG; Mkar Hills in Gboko LG; Ngokur Hills in Kwande; Akata Fishing and Cultural Festival in Katsina-Ala LG and Ogege River Confluence.

Gov Alia seized the opportunity to call on investors/stakeholders to key into the development of the tourism business in the state as a sure way to create employment opportunities and develop the state for good.

He further charged them to “respect nature, and to boost tourism by starting with little resources instead of procrastinating or waiting for the government.

“This is a sector for all – where the big, medium and micro-investors can be involved to start, grow and sustain their investments.”
