Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke has lamented the bad state of education in the State.

The Governor stated this while receiving the report on the recently held 3-day Education Summit from the Committee.

Adeleke promised to study the report meticulously and implement the recommendations therein in order to resuscitate the education from the State of comatose.

The State helmsman, who expressed happiness about the success of the summit, commended the Committee members for their sacrifices and selfless service in ensuring the success of the event.

“You delivered on your mandate. I promise that my administration will do all within its power to reposition education in Osun and make students of public schools compete favourably with those in the private schools,” he said.

While lamenting the situation where students learn under leaking roofs, he stressed that he will make sure all dilapidated buildings were rebuilt for students to learn in a conducive environment.

Governor Adeleke decried the rate at which children of school age are used for street hawking and promised to put a stop to it.

He equally noted that his administration will revamp every sector like health and tourism, among others in Osun.

While presenting the report to the Governor earlier, Professor Oyesoji Aremu, who chaired the Committee noted that the 16- member Committee worked assiduously to get it right in revamping the education sector in Osun.

Aremu lamented that the research showed that the last time Osun had the best result in the WAEC result was in 2018 when she took the 7th position in the federation and ever since then, things have gone bad.

“According to UNICEF, Osun is leading in the Southwest with out of school children. This calls for quick attention of the Government,” he observed.
