Legal and Compliance Counsel (Sub-Saharan Africa) / HR Manager (Nigeria)
The Role:
ADM has multiple businesses in Sub-Saharan Africa, including Human Nutrition and Animal Nutrition. In this role you will coordinate and manage the implementation of the global Compliance and Legal policies in Sub-Saharan Africa and lead as an HR Officer the administration and people management programs in Nigeria, ensuring that business goals are achieved the right way, and the right talent is attracted and retained to achieve the foreseen growth. This role also provides counsel regarding legal matters and manages legal disputes in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Your Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the regional and local management teams to ensure Legal/Compliance and HR aspects of the business strategy are addressed in a timely manner; acting as a partner for local leadership;
- Develop, coordinate, and maintain global and local Legal, Compliance and HR policies, employee handbook and benefits, to ensure compliance with local legislation and alignment with Global corporate policies;
- If relevant, negotiate and consult with the relevant employee representatives on relevant terms and conditions, as well as people-related topics that require consultation;
- Manage the external payroll and benefit providers;
- Manage the full people life cycle at the location, including recruiting, promotions, relocations/expatriations, and terminations;
- Participate in (HR) projects, including reorganizations, mergers and acquisitions and provide legal & HR counsel to management;
- Implement Global talent, learning & development practices for colleagues at the locations;
- Conducting internal investigations and Compliance Training;
- Manage employee grievances and disciplinary cases;
- Managed all HR-related administration and HR systems;
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating agreements and other legal documents (including General Terms and conditions) on request of various departments, such as procurement, sales, trading, and supply chain;
Your Profile:
- Qualified lawyer
- 5 – years of legal experience within a multinational organization is a must
- Experience in Compliance and HR experience will be preferred
- Knowledge of employment law and HR practices in Nigeria
- Strong and mature business partner, transparent and with good judgment
- Strong people management and communication skills at all levels in the organization
- Collaboration and teamwork with the local management team, as well as the regional HR organization, are important
