Arsenal surprisingly signed David Raya on loan from Brentford in the summer transfer window and have the option to make the deal permanent for £27 million next year.
Ramsdale kept his place for Arsenal first four Premier League games but Mikel Arteta opted to drop the England international and start Raya for the 1-0 win over Everton on Sunday.
According to MailOnline, Chelsea are now ‘closely monitoring’ Ramsdale’s position in the Arsenal squad and will potentially make a move for the 25-year-old in the January transfer window.
The report claims that Chelsea ‘remain open’ to signing another goalkeeper despite bringing in Robert Sanchez and Djordje Petrovic during the summer transfer window.
Bayern Munich are also said to be interested in Ramsdale as they are in the market for Manuel Neuer’s long-term successor.
When asked about his decision to axe Ramsdale, Arteta said: ‘I think I mentioned it that we wanted to build a squad with two quality players in each position, with different characteristics, and we have got that now.
‘And to maximise that they have to play games, and we have a lot of things coming up now.
‘And we have the same with other players we have rotated and there will be a lot of game-time in the next few weeks.’
