Job description: TEAM LEADER (ROOFTOP PV/DISTRIBUTION) – NIGERIA & WEST AFRICA
Urgent requirement for Team Leader (rooftop PV/distribution ) in West Africa based in Abuja. (Entrepreneurship Support Facility).
The expert must be highly technically qualified:
- Ideally, a regional expert, ECOWAS citizen, and bilingual in French and English
- Master’s degree in management or economics or equivalent, preferably a combination of engineering degree and MBA
- 8 years of similar experience in the energy sector in ECOWAS countries, especially in off-grid/solar
- Project portfolio to include international organisations such as AfDB, ECREEE, IFC, EIB, EBRD, KFW, AFD etc.
- Previous experience in a World Bank project, ideally as a team leader
- The full-time position will be based in Abuja and travelling to project countries: 15 ECOWAS countries (Benin, Cape Verde, Burkina Faso, Côte D’Ivoire, The Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, and Togo) plus Cameroon, Chad, Mauritania, and Central African Republic
- The expected starting date is Q3 / 2023 for a timeframe of 5 years.
As this is a project management position, the candidate’s educational degrees and work references will be thoroughly vetted.
The ESF Team Leader (Entrepreneurship Support Facility) will oversee sub-component 1 B of the Project.
- Directly reporting to the Project Leader and client, supervising and coordinating the technical activities of the ESF, as well as the regional harmonisation of technical standards.
- Entrepreneurship and business training for tier 1 and tier 2 solar companies
- Customized business acceleration support for tier 3 companies, the annual regional standalone solar business plan competition, and workshop
- Facilitation of entry of non-solar businesses into the solar industry as well as
- Piloting new business models to promote off-grids in public institutions and productive-use applications.
- Due to the technical assistance, the number of certified solar PV installers in participating countries will increase.
- Special emphasis will be on increased capacity, skills, and incomes for women-led solar companies and women hired for full-time jobs in solar companies.
Salary Package: Euro 10,000 pm month (21 working days + accommodation 1500 USD+ travel)
Location: Primary work location Abuja, Nigeria and travel to 14 ecowas countries as needed over next 5 years.
