The Minister for Women Affairs, Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, has vowed that her ministry will tackle violence against women and children.
She said the ministry has concluded plans to start a fight against gender-based violence, which has hitherto left women as the victims.
The newly inaugurated Minister also vowed to help unlock Nigeria’s untapped women’s economic resources.
Kennedy-Ohanenye said that as a mother, she “understands the precarious situations women usually face, especially when it comes to reproductive health issues, trafficking, and harmful sociocultural practices.”
She has hinted at her intention to collaborate with many agencies, CSOs, and relevant multilateral organisations to address the challenges bedevilling women in the country.
The minister also stated her desire to make Nigerian women feel more protected by the law and the instrumentality of the state.
