In the world we live in today, the virtue of integrity is few and far between that its rarity is less seen to be one of the catalysts for disquiet in the society. Where the virtue of integrity is absent, distrust becomes the order of the day, and where such takes root, peace is foreign.
Put three to four persons together in a room, and take away integrity from their midst, you will see how quickly they make a chaos and menace of themselves. Succinctly put, where trust is non-existent, you hardly find peace.
The Bible says; Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but he who makes his ways crooked will be found out. – Proverbs 9;10.
And the power of integrity is such that its fruits are first seen to be highly impactful within lest without, such that the exercising of the virtue brings so much fulfillment to whoever embraces it and makes it a lifestyle. The point is not that the world won’t try to shape you into their own system and make you abandon your values and morals, but the power of integrity is the power of sticking to your true self and not stooping to compromise what is just and what is fair.
Leaders who are celebrated today around the world are eulogised on their reputation for leading a life of truth and justice which integrity upholds. They are not selfish to the point that they compromise what is for the common good for a sole benefit, they are thoughtful, fair and honest in their dealings.
It is being said that the most important characteristic of a leader is integrity such that if a leader has every other leadership skill in the world but lacks integrity, then misery becomes of his leadership as no one trusts or follows a capricious man.
Living a life of peace is living of integrity for integrity will fetch you:
Respect from others
When you demonstrate, it shows that you can be honest and responsible in all aspects of your life. This leads to others showing you respect.
You will have a good reputation
A consistent demonstration of integrity fetches for anyone a good reputation. And like the saying goes, a good name is way better than silver and gold combined.
Self-Respect
Nothing pumps up self-respect better than the virtue of integrity as you will be able to look back at yourself and take pride in your decisions for your know they were based on what is right and just.
Lasting and Meaningful Relationships
A life of integrity attracts quality people your way, and not only attracts them, but sustains them for mutual benefits. Quality people look out for virtue that is quality, and not everyone boasts of it. If you have this as someone they can rely on, lasting and meaningful relationships will be your lots.
When you have all these, there is no way peace won’t saturate you and your life.
