The England team earned their place in Sunday’s match by beating Australia on their home turf, with goals from Ella Toone, Lauren Hemp and Alessia Russo for a 3-1 win.
But Spain will prove tough opponents, and when England triumphed at Euro 2022, Spain were their most difficult opponents. It took an extra-time winner from England in the quarter-finals to beat them.
In their World Cup semi, Spain saw off Sweden to book their place in the final – which will also be the nation’s first ever Women’s World Cup Final having never progressed past the last 16.

According to odds listed on Oddschecker, at the time of writing Spain was the slight favourite – but there’s little to choose between them.
Bet365 and 888 have Spain at 4/5 to win, and England at 19/20 (effectively 4.75/5), while PaddyPower is offering 5/6 on Spain to win, and 10/11 (effectively (5/5.5) on England.
William Hill has Spain at 8/5 to win, with England on 17/10 (effectively 8.5/5) and Betvictor is offering 13/8 for Spain with 7/4 (effectively 14/8) for England.
So while Spain is marginally the bookies’ favourite, there’s still an excellent chance the Lionesses could triumph.
Who is favourite to score first?
Spain are also slight favourites to score first, with an average of 11/10 compared to England’s 6/5 (effectively 12/10).
The player most likely to score a hat trick, according to the average odds, is either England’s Alessia Russo or Spain’s Esther Gonzales, both at 175/1.

Both BBC1 and ITV1 will be screening the final live, from the Stadium Australia in Sydney, on Sunday, August 20.
