Makeshift shops, shanties, and other illegal shops and structures along the affected areas have also been directed to quit before the deadline.

The governor’s directive was contained in a statement signed by Mr Ferdinand Ekeoma, his special adviser on media and publicity.

According to the statement: “This decision is to enable the government to decongest, clean up, safeguard, and beautify the state capital and its environs while reducing the danger associated with illegal parking of vehicles by the roadside and illegal trading that puts lives at risk. All those affected by this directive have up to Wednesday, August 17, 2023, to comply.”
