The committee assigned the responsibility of finding permanent solutions to the recent crisis in Karim-Lamido Local Government Council of Taraba State has advised the state governor, Agbu Kefas, to facilitate the immediate return of all displaced persons back to the council.

Making the plea on Tuesday in Jalingo, the state capital, the committee’s chairman, Alhaji Inuwa Bakari, said “since the governor has succeeded in restoring normalcy to the council, we are calling on him to also facilitate their return back home.”

Several persons were observed to have fled the council as a result of the unrest that erupted between the Wurkun and the Karinjo communities in June this year.

Believing that it has become necessary for those displaced to go back to their various communities in the council, he implored the governor to facilitate the safe return of those who were uprooted from their homes due to the conflict.

Overwhelmed by the committee’s action in restoring peace between the warring ethnic groups, the governor, as noticed by our reporter, immediately revealed a transformational directive for the committee’s future role.

He declared that the committee would transition into a relief-focused entity, tasked with providing essential support to those individuals who had endured displacement in the wake of the conflict.

Following the restoration of peace in the area, the 24 hours curfew earlier imposed by the governor, was observed to have been lifted.
