Job Overview

As a Product and Application Specialist, you will be primarily responsible for developing assigned brands’ Growth Strategy, Annual

Business Plans in joint consultation with Principal Partners and Management & Marketing Team.

competitive products. Establish market leadership by Volume and Value for assigned brands in the allocated geography.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop strategic growth roadmap for master brands and individual products to gain and retain market leadership
  • from a volume and value perspective.
  • Conduct Market and Competitive landscape study – Segment market into smaller, addressable markets as per
  • specialty and/ or customer group and estimate market size for each in terms of revenue, profits, growth rate.
  • Develop a Portfolio for the company to be able to play in all accessible customer and specialty segments.
  • Ensure Sales Teams, Channel Partners and End Customers are trained extensively on product benefits to be able
  • to calculate tangible gain.
  • Ready Sales Tools are provided to Sales Teams – CPT Calculator, Comparisons with Internal and Competitive
  • Products, Product Lifetime Operational Cost, Product Lifetime Maintenance Costs, Nuanced benefits including
  • broader test range etc,
  • Work with marketing to create original content i.e., customer testimonials and increase Product Visibility
  • amongst targets audience.
  • Organize customer seminars from time to time to exhibit capabilities of the products (not yet fully explored by
  • customers) in portfolio to develop key opinion makers and early buyers.
  • Work with Marketing to develop Product Positioning, Price Positioning, Sales Targets, Profit Contributions etc.
  • Work with marketing and develop events participation calendar – track all the leads generation for actual Return
  • on Investment vs. Plan.

Product Detailing

  • Lead/partake in product presentations to customers, prospects, and the sales team to promote and support IVD products within an assigned territory.
  • Liaise with customers to understand their workflow and help them with optimization of their analyses, and
  • provide relevant sales lead gathered to the sale team to support and enhance sales processes.
  • Act as primary field technical interface between the sales team and customer by leading products specification &
  • application discussions and providing scientific explanations and clarifications on the company’s Laboratory solutions to
  • prospective customers.

Application Support

  • Ensure customers’ receipt and implementation of all product/quality notifications from the companys’ Principals by working
  • with the customer service department.
  • Provide efficient instrument applications configuration and timely and precise applications support to customers,
  • including instrument troubleshooting, resolution of scientific-related problems, and providing updates on new methods & techniques.
  • Participate in or organize seminars and CMEs for concerned professional associations, research groups, hospitals and diagnostic facilities.
  • Conduct adequate and standardized Instrument Operators’ Training to customers remotely, onsite and in the company’s Biomedical Training School.
  • Manage relationships with partners including business planning, supply chain, collaborative customer follow-ups, and organizing training for the sales team.
  • Maintain/update periodic reports, such as troubleshooting report sheet, opportunity pipeline trackers, maintenance contract tracker, meeting summaries with strategic customers, etc.

Job Requirement

  • Bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory science (B.MLS) or Master’s degree in Biological Sciences.
  • Certification in any product specialist course is an added advantage.
  • Membership of MLSCN and AMLSN 2+ years experience in medical laboratory practice.
  • Hands-on experience with medical instrument.
  • Product Management experience is an added advantage.
  • In-depth knowledge of products in assigned portfolio.
  • Knowledge in laboratory instrumentation and automation.
  • Ethics and Professionalism.
