Manchester United goalkeeper Nathan Bishop has left the club to join Sunderland on a permanent transfer for an undisclosed fee.

The Red Devils disclosed this in a statement via its website on Wednesday.

Bishop joined Man United from Southend United in 2020 and most recently appeared in the friendly match with Wrexham in San Diego.

The 23-year-old had a successful loan season with Mansfield Town in the 2021/2022 campaign.

Bishop was on the bench four times for Man United in the Premier League last season under manager Erik ten Hag and made four outings in the Papa Johns Trophy.

“Everybody at United would like to wish a hugely popular member of the squad the best of luck at his new club,” Man United’s statement read in part.
