A former majority leader in the Kogi State House of Assembly, Alhassan Salisu Adakeke has warned the People of Bassa Local Government Area of the state to shun ethnic politics which he tagged ‘Biafra order’ if Kogi State must move forward.
Adakeke gave the warning on Wednesday during a stakeholder’s meeting with officials of the ruling All Progressives Congress, (APC) held in Bassa Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The former majority leader said the people of Bassa should not be distracted by the ethnic politics championed by other political parties in Kogi State, stressing that those advocating for the ‘Igala agenda’ are enemies of Kogi development.
He admonished electorates to look beyond ethnicity and religious linings.
“In the history of politics in Kogi State, the people of Bassa Local Government Area have never voted for the opposition party, not even an embryo party driven by personal greed.
“We must maintain our stand of going with the popular and winning party. We must distance ourselves from any agenda that is ethically driven which I tag the Biafra agenda. What the state needs now is a unified Kogi agenda where every Kogite can aspire to the highest position of authority without regard to his ethnic and religious leanings”.
He, however, sued for peace to return to troubled areas in Bassa Local Government Area.
