Commissioner of Police Muhammed Hussaini Gumel stated this in a press briefing held on Thursday at Dala Hills, Kano.

Newspot reported that suspected hoodlums had, on April 8, 2023, set fire to a police vehicle and carted away the riot gun in Madobi town.

The incident happened when some suspected hoodlums in large numbers stormed the house of the village head and destroyed a Toyota Highlander with the intent to intimidate and rob the occupants.

Gumel explained that following a report, a team of detectives were drafted to the scene but were overpowered, resulting in the hoodlums burning their vehicle and stealing the riot gun and two mobile phones.

He said sustained follow-up, coupled with intelligence-led operations on July 7, 2023, led to the arrest of two suspects, Haruna Isyaku and Hassan Kabiru, who are reasonably suspected to be part of those who committed the crime.

During the course of the investigation, the suspects confessed to the crime, and the riot gun was recovered from them.

The case will be charged in court upon completion of the investigation.
