Police raid Rivers criminal hideout, recovers ammunition, military uniforms

Men of the Rivers State Police Command recovered arms and ammunition, as well as military uniforms during a raid on cultists in Udebu community, Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The camp is said to be operated by a gang leader known as ‘General Worldwide.’

It was gathered that acting on credible intelligence, the operatives led by the Divisional Police Officer of Ahoada stormed the camp on Saturday afternoon.

A source who pleaded anonymity disclosed that ‘General.Worldwide’ who is also one of the leaders of the Greenland cult and his lieutenant took to their heels on sighting the police.

He added police “recovered motorcycle, generator, ammunition, one locally fabricated pistol, military uniforms.

“The police squad also recovered some assorted charms and cult attires. Then after that, the police destroyed
their camp.”

In a related development, a gunman who attempted to rob a Point of Sale at New road, Ahoada on Saturday was arrested by the Police. A revolver pistol was reportedly recovered from the suspect.

When contacted, the spokesperson of the State Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko confirmed the raid and recovery of the exhibits.

Iringe-Koko, a Superintendent stated, “Yes, I can confirm the raid and investigation is ongoing.”

The Rivers police image maker, however, said she was yet to get the report of the arrest of the suspect who attempted to rob a PoS operator.
