The Commissioner of Police, Yobe State Command, Ahmed Garba, said security is a civic responsibility, and everyone must be involved.

The CP re-echoed this when he played host to the executive members of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), who paid him a courtesy visit at his office yesterday.

The Commissioner, elated by the visit, described it as encouraging, noting that the committee’s primary role is the fight against crimes and criminality in modern-day policing strategy, which survived the test of time.

While assuring the committee of amicable cooperation, CP Garba urged the committee to yield to their fundamental objective, which is to ameliorate some of the security challenges to promote peaceful coexistence in the state.

“Security should be a civic responsibility and that everyone must be involved. As such, the police in Yobe state have an open-door policy in the enforcement of Law and Order”, he said.

The Committee Chairman, Mr Bala Mohammed, after thorough deliberations, expressed the readiness of the committee to continue collaborating with the police.

Mohammed also emphasized the commitment of its members to strengthen relationships with divisional police officers across the 17 local government areas to enhance grassroots intelligent-led policing and to attract security awareness.

The meeting featured the presentation of a newly designed PCRC action plan.
