Shun religious, ethnic sentiments, support peace, unity – Niger Acting Gov, Garba

The Acting Governor of Niger State, Yakubu Garba has called on citizens to shun ethnic and religious sentiments and intensify support for anything that will bring peace, love and unity amongst them to fast-track its development in all spheres.

The Acting Governor stated this at the Minna Eid prayer ground after performing the two rakaat’s prayer for Eid el Kabir led by Chief Imam Minna Central mosque Sheikh Ibrahim Fari.

He said peace was the pre-requisite for any meaningful progress and development of any nation and urged Nigerlites to continue to remain peaceful to reap the dividends of democracy.

According to him, “Though there is a high expectation from Nigerlites in the present government, we will do everything humanly possible to meet their yearnings and this cannot be achieved without the contribution of all in the state to succeed”.

” We thank all stakeholders for their support to the present administration and we also want Nigerlites to put Niger State first above personal interest to achieve maximum results”.

Also, former Niger State Governor Dr Muazu Babangida Aliyu in his remarks commended the Federal Government for the removal of fuel subsidy which he noted was being used to service other areas rather than the actual subsidy.

He said, “Subsidy that does not go to the beneficiaries should be removed”.
