The new Minority Leader of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Lukmon Adeleye, has assured residents of the state that the 10th legislature would not be a ‘rubber stamp’ to the other arms of government.
According to the Minority Leader, the 10th Assembly would “be far from being an organ at the beck and call of the executive,” instead it will do its legislative functions diligently to put the state above par.
In an interview with Newspot, Adeleye maintained that he would ensure that the minority members in the House of Assembly are not relegated to the background, saying they would be accorded that is due to them at the right time.
The Odogbolu lawmaker pledged “to go into the chamber and contribute to the decision-making process of the House in accordance with the burning desires and issues concerning the people.”
He promised to work hand-in-glove with other principal officers and other members of the House throughout his service in the Assembly.
Adeleye also prayed that God would help the Speaker, Olakunle Oluomo, and other elected officers in the conduct of the affairs of the Assembly throughout their stay in office.
Newspot reports that the Speaker announced the principal officers of the tenth Assembly on Thursday, two days after its inauguration.
