Veteran Nollywood actor, Alhaji Kareem Adepoju, popularly known as Baba Wande, has opened up about how he was betrayed by veteran filmmaker Tunde Kelani.

Baba Wande shared his grievances during a recent interview with BBC News Yoruba, where he discussed the reasons behind the delayed release of the sequel to their Yoruba movie “Ti Oluwa Nile.”

According to Baba Wande, he and Tunde Kelani had a verbal agreement stating that he would receive 30% of the profits from the first installment. However, he was given a mere 15,000 out of the 180,000 that was earned.

Expressing his shock and deep disappointment, Baba Wande said,

“I was taken aback and greatly demoralized when I received 15,000 through Kelani’s manager from the total sum of 180,000 we made from the initial sales.”

Baba Wande further revealed that Kelani, who was once his good friend, justified this by explaining that others needed to share in the profits.

However, Baba Wande found Kelani’s behavior discouraging, leading him to abandon plans for Part 2 of the movie, which would have concluded the story.

Speaking further, the legendary actor advised active actors and actresses to produce movies that will remain relevant for years instead of promoting nudity in the society.
