The Imo State chapter of the Labour Party, LP, is conducting parallel primary elections at two different locations in Owerri, the state capital.
While the Onyekwulisi Festus-led faction is conducting its primaries at Andreas Hotel along MCC Road, the other group headed by a former National President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, Ukachukwu Awuzie, is conducting its primaries at the Landmark Event Centre.
The Abia State Governor-Elect, Alex Otti, is the returning officer and chairman of the electoral panel for the Awuzie-led faction.
Accreditation is ongoing at the Festus-led primaries, while the Awuzie’s faction is yet to commence as delegates and contestants are just arriving.
A total of 14 governorship aspirants are to contest in the different primaries ahead of the November 11 governorship elections.
