A statement issued by its publicity secretary in the state, Yusuf Idris Gusau, said the essence of calling his attention is to prevent the occurrence of such an incident in Saturday’s supplementary poll.

Yusuf explained that since the army was used in the last governorship and State House of Assembly elections without the knowledge of the military high command, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, knew that it would not be possible for them to use a similar deal to win the election.

The State APC publicity scribe said the PDP was scared of losing the scheduled supplementary election, pointing out that the APC will resist any further attempt to use force against Zamfara voters.

The statement also urged the police not to be deterred by PDP members and to discharge their statutory function as provided for by the law of the land.

Gusau, on behalf of the APC, commended the people of Zamfara for standing by it and for maintaining law and order despite the intimidation they have faced and urged them to come out on Saturday, the 15th of April 2023, to vote.

Speaking on the claim that Governor Matawalle is allegedly using the police to intimidate the PDP supporters, Gusau said if he had taken advantage of the relationship, PDP would not have used the army to manipulate the last governorship election.
