The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State has accused the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state of being financially illiterate and gullible.
This was in reaction to the comment from the Osun APC Acting Chairman, Tajudeen Lawal over the delay in the payment of the March salary of civil servants in the state.
Adekunle Akindele, the Osun PDP caretaker chairman while defending the government’s action described the state governor, Ademola Adeleke as a leader who has kept every promise he made to the people of the state.
According to him, “His job approval rating is beyond 80 percent. APC rating is below 10 percent, as evidenced by recent surveys and outcome of recent elections.”
The Party chairman while noting that the workers understood the importance of the delay added that it became necessary to serve their interest and ensure payment of their delayed promotion arrears allegedly denied by the last administration of the APC.
Akindele who revealed that the Adeleke administration met a state already run aground by the APC explained that he is now working to take the state out of the doldrums.
“He is doing this by focusing on human development, the revival of abandoned infrastructure and delivery of urgent social services like water and health services,” Akindele stated.
The Osun APC on Saturday faulted the reasons given by the state government for the delay and declared that the Ademola Adeleke administration failed in their promise to pay state workers their salary before the 26th of every month.
The party also insisted that the Adeleke PDP-led administration had run the state aground.
The party in a statement signed by the Osun APC acting chairman faulted the reason for the delay in the payment of the March salaries and described it as flimsy and fabricated by the governor to deceive the unsuspecting government workers in the state.
Olawale Rasheed, the Osun governor’s spokesperson had in a statement on Friday attributed the delay in the payment of March salary to the ongoing computation of promotion arrears of civil servants promoted without pay in the last four years.
Olawale also explained that the compilation of what is due to each promoted officer is followed with due diligence to ensure that there is no error in the eventual payment.
He, through the statement, revealed that March salary alongside the promotion arrears of civil servants will be ready this week.
