The governor-elect of Cross River State, Prince Bassey Otu has been seeking the favour of prominent indigenes within and outside the state to enable him rally their support for his incoming government, sources have said.
Newspot found that some of these indigenes are the minister of state for power, Giddy Jeddy-Agba and the former director general of State Security Services (SSS), Ekpenyong Ita.
The governor-elect visited the two in their Abuja homes informally over the weekend.
It was not formally made known what the governor-elect discussed with them but watchers think he is widely consulting on strategy and rallying support for his government from May 2023.
It has been speculated that he visited the former secret police boss in view of the security challenges, including kidnapping, gangsterism, and communal clashes among others, bedevilling the state.
Otu appreciated Jeddy Agba for his efforts towards his victory.
Otu and Jeddy-Agba pledged to continue to work closely towards the growth and development of the State.
Both dignitaries at different times had nursed governorship ambition to govern the state.
It is understood that Otu has so far reached out to several economic partners and stakeholders in the state within a week of his declaration by INEC.
