Josko Gvardiol is a target for a number of big clubs across Europe this summer, but his boss at RB Leipzig, Marco Rose, says he will not be going anywhere.
The 21-year-old centre-back has become hot property after impressing for both Leipzig and at the World Cup with Croatia.
The likes of Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool have been heavily linked with the young defender, who has a contract at the Bundesliga club until 2027.
RB Leipzig are certainly under no pressure to sell with that length of deal, and Rose is insistent that Gvardiol will still be with the club next season, admitting that he is set for a big move at some point, but it will not necessarily be this year.
‘Josko Gvardiol will be a RB Leipzig player next season as well. I am the coach and I am asking for that,’ Rose told tv2sport.
‘He is happy here. He said he wants to play in the Premier League, but he didn’t say when!’
The Croatian helped build his reputation on Wednesday night as he scored RB Leipzig’s goal in a 1-1 draw with Manchester City in the Champions League last 16, his first since scoring for Croatia in the World Cup third place play-off win over Morocco.
