Traditional rulers of the Yoruba people from Ekiti, Lagos, Kogi, Kwara, Ogun, Ondo, Osun and Oyo States met on Thursday, February 16, 2023, at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan, Oyo State. Present were;

Osun State.

Ooni of Ife  Orangun Ile Ila , Orangun oke Ila,   Alayemore of Ido- Osun.

Ogun state .

Olu of Ilaro  Onimeko of Imeko  Onipara of Ipara Remo.  Olofin of Isheri.

Lagos State .

Ayagburen of Ikorodu , Oniru of Iru Land  Osolo of Isolo ,Onijanikin of Ijanikin  Alara of Ilara of Ilara. , Oniba of Iba ,  Aladeshonyi of Noforija.  Elegushi of Ikate land.

Ekiti State .

Owa Ooye of Okemesi-Ekiti  Arinjale of Ise Ekiti  Oore of Otun Ekiti  ,Olumuo of Omuo Ekiti  Obalero of Erinmope Ekiti.

Oyo State .

Olugbon Of Orile Igbon. ,Okere of Shaki., Olu of Igbo Ora.,Oba Kishi of Kishi Land , Oba Akibio Of Ilora-Oyo Town.

Ondo State .

Deji Of Akure , Olugbo of Ugbo , Abodi of Ikale  Osemawe of Ondo , Olowo of Owo , Olukare of Ikare

Kogi & Kwara State .

Obaro of Kaba  Olujumu of Ijimu Land.

The meeting was presided by His Imperial Majesty, Oba Adeyeye Eniitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, the Ooni of Ife and Arole Oodua.

2. At the end of the meeting, the Royal Fathers:

a) Affirmed their faith and support for Nigeria’s unity, peace, prosperity and progress and pledged to support the democratic process based on free choices according to universal adult suffrage freely exercised by the people.

b) Expressed their concern about the recent hardship suffered by the people due to perennial fuel scarcity and the Naira redesign policy.

c) Urged more humane handling of these challenges to free the people from high-handedness, poverty and want

3. In the run-up to the 2023 General Elections, they pledged their support for the success of the elections. They urged the people to exercise their civic duties peacefully to engender a desired change in the country.

4. To this end, the Traditional rulers appealed to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, the security agencies and other institutions involved in the general elections to support and uphold the right of every Nigerian to freely cast their vote without let or hindrance to guarantee the sanctity of the electoral process.

5. The meeting granted Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress, APC, an audience.

6. The Royal Fathers expressed satisfaction with the briefings he gave concerning his aspiration. They acknowledged Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s solid democratic credentials and unwavering commitment to the entrenchment of democracy in Nigeria.

7. The meeting affirms the preeminent qualification of HE Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the highest office of Nigeria.

8. They renewed their faith in the steady democratic growth of the country and reiterated their belief that equity and justice are prerequisites for unity, peace, progress and prosperity of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
