Two members of the Osun Baptist Conference held while delivering ransom to abductors in a community in Kogi State have regained their freedom.

The two persons had gone to deliver N6 million to secure the release of two farmers, Samuel Oladotun and Fashola Tobiloba, abducted by gunmen in the Oke Osun area, Ileogbo, Osun State, when they were also held and fresh N24m ransom demanded.

But a letter obtained in Osogbo on Friday signed by the President of Osun Baptist Conference, Dr. Paul Kolawole,  and addressed to Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, said the last two victims were released on Friday.

The letter thanked the governor for his intervention and said a sum of N10m was paid for the release of all the victims.

The letter read in parts, “It is interesting to inform your Excellency that two people were released on the 17th, while the last two were just released today Friday 20th January, 2023 even though with cumulative payment of ransoms of N10 million.

“We will appreciate it if your Excellency will grant us an audience by giving us a day to bring the four victims to you to show our appreciation.

“It will also enable us as a Conference to felicitate with you on your successful ascension as the Executive Governor of our state.”

Giving further insight into how the victims were released, a close family source, who preferred anonymity, said the abductors freed them in a community in Kogi State on Friday, after payment of N4m.

“Their abductors just called that we should come for them on Friday. They collected N4 million. We earlier paid N6m to secure the release of Samuel and Tobi,” he concluded.
