Former Manchester United striker Louis Saha says Tottenham superstar Harry Kane would be a ‘great fit’ for the club, despite Erik ten Hag’s reservations over the England skipper.

The 29-year-old has 18 months left to run on his Tottenham deal and he rejected the club’s last advance.

Kane has long made it clear how keen he is to win trophies and though he remains at the top of his game, time is running out for the Three Lions skipper.

Though Kane was keen on joining City in 2021, his path to the Etihad has been blocked off by Erling Haaland’s arrival at the club.

Kane would not consider joining city rivals Chelsea, while Liverpool have other areas of the squad that require more urgent attention.

That leaves United as Kane’s most likely destination if he’s to stay in England but Ten Hag is said to have concerns over the forward’s pressing abilities and would rather sign a younger, more mobile striker.

But Saha disagrees and says he can ‘only see positives’ about making a move for Kane.

‘We all know that football careers go by super-fast, and you have to take your chance when you get it,’ Saha told PaddyPower.

‘It seems like Harry Kane is still improving. His quality is there for everyone to see. He knows where the goal is, and he knows how to stay composed. He always picks the right pass, and we can argue that he gets let down by his teammates.

‘I would say that the set up against Arsenal was so frustrating because he needed more support, and they needed more fire in the last third of the field. It was sad to see.

‘Based on history, Manchester United would be a great fit for Harry Kane. He would be guaranteed 30 goals a season and he would have a better chance of winning a trophy.

‘They also have so much quality in midfield in Casemiro and Christian Eriksen. I can only see positives about going there because they’re such a forward-thinking team. It would really suit his game.’
