The Blues are looking to be very busy in the January transfer window, having already signed David Datro Fofana and Benoît Badiashile, while a loan move for Joao Felix is imminent.
They may well not stop there, with Marcus Thuram linked, while The Times suggests that the Madueke is also on the radar of the Stamford Bridge club.
The 20-year-old was highly-rated in England, moving from Palace to Spurs where he impressed for the Under-16 and Under-18 sides before making the switch to PSV in 2018, despite interest from Manchester United.
He made his debut for the Dutch club in January 2020 and has gone on to make 50 Eredivisie appearances for PSV, scoring 11 goals.
His current season has been hampered by injury and has made just four league appearances, but has enough credit in the bank for Chelsea to be looking at him.
Former PSV boss Roger Schmidt, who is now in charge of Benfica, explained what Madueke brings to the table, speaking in 2021: ‘He is able to read situations, get to the right positions and be in the right place.
‘He has a good sense of that, with his timing, and, technically, he has the skills when one-on-one.’
Speaking about his move to PSV, Madueke told The Guardian last year: ‘Sometimes I look back and I think: “Wow, I’ve just turned 20 and I’ve played maybe 65 professional games, I’ve played in Europe, I’ve scored goals everywhere, sometimes I have to pinch myself.”
‘It has been a success coming here. I’m never fazed with any stage I’m on and long may that continue. I’ve got belief in myself, belief in God and I know I can perform at any level.’
