Arsenal FC will be facing Manchester City in the fourth round of the FA Cup after beating Oxford United 3-0 on Monday night, overcoming a slow start to pull away in the final 30 minutes.
The EPL table-topping side eased by Oxford United in the third round of the FA Cup, The League One side succeeded in stifling the attack of their Premier League opposition in the first half, as neither side recorded a shot on target.
But the visitors were better in the second half, breaking through in the 63rd minute as Mohamed Elneny got on the end of a Fabio Vieira cross.
Vieira would earn another assist just seven minutes later, playing in Eddie Nketiah who coolly took the ball around Edward McGinty and slotted it into an empty net.
Nketiah doubled his tally just six minutes after that, collecting a lovely pass from Gabriel Martinelli and dinking it over the Oxford goalkeeper.
Bukayo Saka hobbled off in the 75th minute, a worrying sight for Arsenal fans with the north London derby coming up on Sunday. He was replaced by Emile Smith Rowe, who made his first appearance since September 4 returning from his own injury.
Arsenal advance to face Manchester City away in the fourth round later this month. That match will come less than three weeks before the two Premier League title rivals meet in the league for the first time this season.
