A member of the National Youth Service Corps, Dr Odede Joseph Oluwatosin, has ensured that the residents of Ilasa, Isolo and Oshodi areas of Lagos State, who use the Ilasa Primary Health Centre, have access to an eye doctor.
Dr Odede, who graduates as an Optometrist from Madonna University in a chat with our video team shared his motivation and the process of building a structure for the eye clinic from scratch. He said he was concerned by the fact that there was no basic eye care available to members of the community, thus burdening tertiary health institutions in the state.
To kickstart the process, Dr Odede revealed that he had to get permission from critical stakeholders and then get sponsors to bring his desires to life. He identified some of the sponsors who helped him and called on the government to do more, to bring health care services closer to the people.
