Brentford striker Ivan Toney has now been charged with 262 alleged breaches of FA betting rules, having been charged with 30 more this week.

The 26-year-old was charged with 232 alleged breaches in November and on Tuesday 20 December another 30 charges were made.

An FA spokeperson said: ‘Ivan Toney has been charged with misconduct in relation to alleged breaches of The FA’s Betting Rules.

‘In addition to the previous charge, it is alleged that the Brentford FC forward breached FA Rule E8 a further 30 times between 14 March 2017 and 18 February 2019.

‘Ivan Toney has until Wednesday 4 January 2023 to provide a response.’

Legal representatives for the FA and Toney are now going through all of the alleged betting offences, with the striker having the right to respond to each and every one of them.

A statement from Brentford said: ‘The FA have informed Brentford FC that Ivan Toney has been charged in relation to additional alleged breaches of their betting rules.

‘Our private discussions with Ivan and his legal representatives on this matter continue. We will make no further comment at this stage.’

Toney was in fine form before the World Cup and can be considered unlucky not have made it to Qatar with the England squad.

He had scored 10 Premier League goals in 14 appearances this campaign, looking set to comfortably outstrip the 12 he managed last season with the Bees.

When the news emerged of his initial charges in November, Toney tweeted: ‘I’m aware of a story about me in a national newspaper today. I have been assisting the Football Association with their enquiries and will not be making any comment until such investigation has reached its conclusion.’
