Qatar 2022: Carragher names five best players in history as Messi finally wins World Cup

Liverpool defender, Jamie Carragher has named the best five footballers in history following the 2022 World Cup final on Sunday.

Argentina defeated France 4-2 on penalties to lift the trophy, after the game ended 3-3 following 120 minutes of football.

Lionel Messi scored twice, while his Paris Saint-Germain team-mate, Kylian Mbappe grabbed a hat-trick.

However, Carragher has listed his all-time greats as Messi, Diego Maradona, Pele, Ronaldo and Zinedine Zidane.

Carragher interestingly left out five-time Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo, who has won league titles in England, Spain and Italy.
