The Ado Local Government Executive Council has reacted to the report that it aided Fulani herdsmen in the pathetic murder of persons and destruction of properties in Eboh, Aha-Amufu Community of Isi-Uzo Local Government Area of Enugu State which happened last Friday.

The Council expressed shock and dismay over the reports in some media outfits that the people of Benue State, particularly from Ado Local Government, collaborated with the suspected herdsmen and/or gunmen who attacked the community.

The Ado Executive Council stated unequivocally that the people of the LGA have no reason to and could not have collaborated with gunmen or herdsmen to launch an attack on the good people of Enugu State.

The Council noted that for months there has been a brewing misunderstanding between the community that has been attacked and Fulani herdsmen and expressed suspicion that the attack is a product of the misunderstanding.

A statement signed by Rt. Hon. Chief James Oche, the Executive Chairman of the Council, said that the people of Ado Local Government who themselves are subject of hostility and criminality from killer herdsmen could not have reasonably become friends overnight to engineer or partake in an attack against the people of Eboh, Aha-Amufu, Isi-Uzo.

The Ado Council sympathized with the families and victims of the dastardly act and refuted any attempt to link the people of the LGA to the tragedy.

The Council said it makes bold to demand, as a matter of urgency, an apology for such uninformed, baseless and criminal allegation.

It said it is open to partnership with sister councils, especially around border areas to intensify security efforts to decimate criminality substantially, especially in this festive season.

The Ado Local Government Executive Council urged its people to remain peaceful and law abiding as ever and should always cooperate with government on issues bothering their welfare, especially as regards security.
