The Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, has said the residents of the state will benefit from the government of the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Candidate, Bola Tinubu, should he win the presidential election in 2023.

This is as he pledged to turn in the highest percentage of votes for Tinubu after Lagos State, urging members of the party to mobilise “massive votes” for the APC candidate to enable the party to retain the presidency.

Oyebanji said this on Thursday when he visited the Ado-Ekiti, Ward Four meeting, canvassing support for Tinubu, according to a statement by his media office.

“What Asiwaju’s votes mean for us are numerous because I have spoken at length with him on issues concerning Ekiti. I assured him that Ekiti will deliver the highest percentage of votes in the South-West after Lagos. He looked at me and said, ‘If you achieve that, I will surprise you’.

“So, let’s do what I have promised on your behalf. Let’s mobilise and vote massively for our own Asiwaju,” he was quoted as saying.

Speaking further, the governor said Ekiti people had many good reasons to vote en masse for Tinubu whose daughter, according to him, is married to an Ekiti man.

He said the state would benefit from Tinubu’s government in infrastructure development, adding that the APC presidential flag bearer remained the most capable and experienced among the presidential candidates.

Oyebanji also called for support for all candidates of the party in the state and National Assembly elections.

The governor also assured political leaders at the grassroots that he would respect their choices and recommendations while making political appointments.

He urged them to push forward for appointments only those who regularly attended ward meetings with them, adding that leaders who were recommended from the grassroots more often stayed connected to the people.

On election litigation, Oyebanji told the gathering that he had nothing against his main challenger, Kayode Ojo, as he loved the fact that Ojo opted for the legal option instead of resorting to self-help.

He further enjoined his challenger to return to the APC and work with him to take the state to an enviable position.
