Tension as armed robbers invade Queen’s College Ibadan

Suspected armed robbers, on Saturday, invaded the Queens College in Ibadan, Oyo State capital, killing a security guard during a raid on the premises.

The sad incident took place early hours on Saturday at the college’s premise in Apata, Ido Local Government Area of the state.

Our correspondent gathered that the suspected robbers, who were armed with sophisticated weapons, invaded the premises at about 1am yesterday.

Eyewitnesses said the security guards tried to resist the armed robbers but could not march the fireworks of the bandits as one of them was felled by the bullets.

According to one of the eyewitnesses, who did not want his name in print, the armed robbers engaged in sporadic shooting to scare the residents and the neighbourhood guards.

When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adewale Osifeso, confirmed the killings and said investigation is still ongoing and update would be provided accordingly.
