Former Arsenal midfielder, Jack Wilshere, has revealed how he handled the criticism he received on television from former Premier League stars.

These former Premier League stars, who now talk football from different sports televisions and podcast channels, always criticise players.

Cristiano Ronaldo recently fell out with former Manchester United teammates, Wayne Rooney and Gary Neville after they slammed him for setting a bad example.

While Ronaldo returned the criticism to his former teammates in an interview with Piers Morgan, Wilshere said he once called up legend Paul Scholes in response to negative remarks that the former Red Devils midfielder made.

“I had a few comments from ex-players on TV, once from Jamie Redknapp and then from Paul Scholes,” the former England midfielder told The Sun.

“So I called them. With Jamie it was when I’d come back from injury,” Wilshere added, revealing that he told Redknapp he also had injury situations during his playing days.

“He [Redknapp] was very respectful and said he hadn’t really thought about it like that,” Wilshere added.

“When Paul Scholes had a go at me he was really good when I contacted him, he ended up helping me.”

Wilshere, who retired from football at the age of 30 due to injury, is now the coach of Arsenal’s U18 team.
