Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has been handed a touchline ban for Saturday’s Premier League clash against Southampton.
Klopp was shown a red card in the final minutes of his side’s 1-0 win over Manchester City on 16 October, later admitting to ‘losing it’ after berating match officials over the decision to not award Mohamed Salah a foul.
Klopp received a £30,000 fine following an investigation by the Independent Regulatory Commission but the Football Association took the rare step of appealing that decision last week, seeking a stronger punishment.
The FA have now confirmed the success of that appeal with the ban to come in ‘with immediate effect.’
A statement read: ‘An independent Appeal Board has allowed the FA’s appeal against an Independent Regulatory Commission’s sanction in relation to the recent case involving Jurgen Klopp.
‘As a result the Liverpool FC manager has been suspended from the touchline for one match with immediate effect, fined £30,000 and warned as to his future conduct.’
