In a remarkable display of determination and passion for education, 94-year-old Adedapo Idowu has officially registered for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), aspiring to study Political Science at the prestigious University of Ibadan.

Idowu completed his registration at the JAMB Professional Test Center in Ibadan, Oyo State, and expressed his delight at the seamless process, which he attributed to the effective use of technology by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). His registration experience, which integrated his National Identity Number (NIN), not only simplified data collection but also provided a user-friendly environment for candidates.

Since the UTME registration commenced on January 31, over 700,000 candidates have signed up, including 11,000 underage applicants. Despite his advanced age, Idowu remains resolute in fulfilling his long-standing dream of attaining a higher education.

“I can now attain my dream at an advanced age. The registration staff gave me a sense of belonging through the warm reception at the registration venue,” Idowu shared, reflecting on his experience.

Idowu’s story has resonated with many, as he encourages others to embrace professionalism and find contentment in their academic journeys. He also urged the JAMB to continue its efforts to provide access to education for all, particularly the elderly, underprivileged, and those with disabilities.
